Title: Dungeons & Dragons Online
Post by: Rumbaar on October 27, 2009, 11:46:34 AM
So I've recently started playing Dungeons & Dragons Online (http://www.ddo.com/) (DDO).  It's a free to play fantasy MMO, with a pay to play or pay to advance option.

You start with a good selection of areas and quests, with technically all areas (if you grind efficiently with all characters and servers) able to be acquired with no cost.

It's only recently become free, a month or so, but it's highly polished and accessible.  I'm currently playing a Ranger/Rogue build with a direction of become a Tempest III build.

Would be great to see any OS'ers online, I'm on the Khyber server with the character name Darkbaine. My DDO account link is: http://my.ddo.com/rumbaar/ (Tho the character sheets don't seem to be updating at the moment)

Yeah, kept an eye on the FTP transition and from what I've heard it's worked out pretty well for them. Wouldn't mind giving it a spin but got a little too much on my hands atm  :(

Yeah it seem the F2P model has boosted there number for sure.  The smaller purchases make it easier I bet to control what you play and when you play it as well.  So can get the most from what you got, then move on.

But yes I can usually only play one game, seriously, at a time.

Just a follow up, I'll most likely be purchasing a guild charter and starting a guild within DDO.  Now I'm not sure if 'Omega Syndicate' fits the fantasy realm.

Any idea or thoughts on a variant to the theme?  Or so I just stick with a consistent name?

My advice is stick with Omega Syndicate. The more presence we have across the board I think the better this hub site can get off its feet. Omega Syndicate sounds alright for fantasy I guess, kind of gives it a secret society air to it.
But I don't play DDO so  :P

Im not getting involved in any other MMO, until I get my Alpha/Beta invite to SW:TOR...which I expect to receive in the next month.  :)

Yeah, there certainly isn't a push or feel a need to be constantly doing something because it's costing you or something.  Also with the micro transaction option, you can time your purchase for cheap deals or optimum exchange rates.

Character sheets are working .... but it's still linking to a deleted character of mine :(

Yeah, I doubt support would handle site errors like that, but maybe.  As I think I have 45 days free support from my initial purchase.  Was hoping it would fix itself ...

Yeah the discounted adventure packs and discounted points really sold well.

Nice work, glad to see you've downloaded the game.  There is so much you can do for free as well, so if budget is an issue it can help.  Be sure to let us know your in game name, I'll try to help you out with some items, if I can go back and group with you in the 'newbie' zone.
